Montreal - October 30th, 2017
Montrealers are calling for greater transparency from their elected officials, and Valérie Plante will respond to their call. The leader of Projet Montréal and mayoral candidate is committed to re-establishing the visitors registry at City Hall to meet with her. In March 2014, the outgoing mayor requested that City Hall security guards refrain from recording the names of visitors in the official registry. All of the mayor's visitors were thereby able to meet with him without signing up. Valérie Plante will put an end to this directive which damages transparency at City Hall, and will re-establish the visitors registry.
• Valérie Plante, leader of Projet Montréal commits, once she is elected Mayor of Montreal, to re-establish the visitors registry at City Hall.
• This registry will allow for the recording of the names of the people who meet with the Mayor of Montreal.
• Denis Coderre demanded, in 2014, that the names of his visitors no longer be recorded in the registry, which creates a serious lack of transparency.
• After the troubled years that Montreal has experienced, Valérie Plante thinks that it is essential to be as transparent as possible. This is why, in addition to re-establishing the visitors registry, the mayoral candidate is committed to making her agenda public.
“I hope that the level of transparency at Montreal's City Hall will be the highest possible, and I will take measures to ensure that we reach this objective. It is time to re-establish transparency at City Hall, to put an end to the culture of secrecy, and to bring back the visitors registry. My administration will have nothing to hide, and will proudly serve Montrealers.” - Valérie Plante, leader of Projet Montréal and mayoral candidate.
